I am confronted with quite a dilemma: When is the help of the international community in the internal affairs of a country justified. This problem really keeps me awake.
When is the intervention honestly in favor of the affected population and when is it only a cover-up in the interest of the intervening members of the international community?
Venezuela like most democracies has 3 equal branches of government. An Executive, a Legislative and a Judiciary. As it stands it is a 2 v 1 confrontation. It also has a stabilizing force that is the armed forces. It has supported and prevented previous coups. It also has an Electoral Institution, generally well respected in Latin America, which has elected members of the opposition in Parliament and reelected Maduro. Even if the opposition has grown in size, there is also a huge popular support to Maduro of the Judiciary and of the Armed Forces.
So what to do?
We will agree that U.S. Congress is against Trump, that a great majority of the people are against Trump that the most media are against Trump, is that justification enough for other countries to call the U.S. Armed forces to rise against the Elected President?
Imagine if the U.S. expels Russian diplomats and Russia says they are not going anywhere because we do not recognize the present government?
This refusal by the U.S. is an excuse to intervene if the diplomats are mistreated in any way or form.
Russia has already warned that it will not accept a military intervention. China has yet to take a position, but has invested a lot in Venezuela and may risk losing it all if there is a change in government.
What to do?
We have caused Cuba to move to the Russian camp. We have caused Vietnam to move to the Chinese Camp. We have caused Venezuela to move to the Chinese and Russian camp.
